Issue 18-16 Wholesale Sales

Sales by wholesalers (seasonally adjusted) in British Columbia fell in November to reach $6.4 billion, a 0.7% decrease compared to the previous month. The decline was led by building material and supplies (‑5.5%), farm product (‑2.8%) and motor vehicle and parts (‑2.8%) wholesalers.

Nationally, the value of sales by wholesalers went up by 0.7% in November compared to the previous month. The increase was widespread, with five of the seven industry subsectors reporting gains for the month. Among provinces, Prince Edward Island (‑8.2%) saw the largest decline in wholesale trade in November, while Nova Scotia (+4.3%) registered the largest gain.
