Issue 18-15 Manufacturing Sales

B.C. manufacturing sales (seasonally adjusted) went up 0.7% in November, led by the computer and electronic product (+11.5%), paper (+9.4%) and transportation equipment (+5.5%) industries. Declines were mainly in the primary metals industry (-10.6%), textile product mills (-3.0%) and printing, and related support activities (-2.6%).

Canadian sales of manufactured goods increased 3.4% in November boosted by higher sales in the transportation equipment (+9.1%), petroleum and coal product (+6.1%), and chemical industries (+5.9%). Manufacturing sales were up in all provinces except Manitoba (-1.0%). The largest provincial gains were in Ontario (+5.8%), with higher sales in the transportation equipment (+12.7%), petroleum and coal product (+14.9%) and chemical (+8.6%) industries.
