Issue 18-129 Food Services and Drinking Places

Receipts at food services and drinking places in B.C. continued to seesaw in May, climbing 2.4% (seasonally adjusted), following a 1.9% decline in April.

Canadian establishments saw receipts increase (+1.9%) as revenues were up in eight provinces, including Quebec (+2.4%) and Ontario (+2.0%).  Canadian drinking places took in slightly less revenue (-0.2%), as did special food services (-0.1%). Meanwhile, sales at full-service restaurants were strong (+1.8%), and limited-services service establishments saw receipts climb a solid 2.4%.
