Sales by wholesalers (seasonally adjusted) in British Columbia climbed in October to reach $6.5 billion, a 1.1% increase compared to the previous month. The gains were led by building material and supplies (+6.0%) and food, beverage and tobacco (+4.1%) wholesalers.
Nationally, the value of sales by wholesalers went up by 1.5% in October compared to the previous month. The increase was widespread, with six of the seven industry subsectors and nine provinces reporting gains for the month. Among provinces, only Newfoundland and Labrador (‑2.4%) saw a decline in wholesale trade in October, while Saskatchewan (+10.1%) registered the largest gain.
