The area in B.C. dedicated to growing greenhouse products continued to shrink in 2015, decreasing to 55 million square feet. Sales of greenhouse products grown in the province exceeded $659 million last year, up from $618 million in 2014. B.C.’s greenhouse industry is the second biggest in the country, after Ontario, where sales reached over $1.6 billion in 2015. The national total was $2.8 billion.

Ornamental flower and plant sales (including resales) accounted for more than half of total revenues in B.C., with sales adding to $351 million in 2015. Sales by B.C. producers of greenhouse fruits and vegetables (primarily tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and peppers) were valued at $308 million.
