Issue 16-78: Visitor Entries

April 20, 2016

The number of travelers entering Canada via B.C. borders continued to climb (+1.5%, seasonally adjusted) in February. American tourists made more (+2.7%) trips north of the border into B.C., but travel to the province from overseas countries was down (-0.7%). There were notably fewer visits from Africa (-29.6%), South America (-10.9%) and Oceania (-10.9%), while entries from Europe saw a more moderate drop (-1.6%). A 3.6% increase in the number of travelers from Asia offset much of the declines, as visitors from this group represent a much larger portion of overall entries.
