Flexible Work Times (Flex Time)

Employees choose their regular start and end times for the work day.

Example 1

Anna’s scheduled workday begins at 7:30 and finishes at 3:30.  Anna works 7 hours a day but her scheduled start times range through the week between 7:30 and 8:30, in accordance with applicable contractual terms and provisions.

Example 2

Matt works 70 hours every two weeks but his work day fluctuates from 0 hours to 10 hours a day.

Key Success Factors

• A work schedule is created with the entire work unit to ensure that business, operational and customer needs are always covered.
• Employees agree to make themselves available outside of regularly scheduled work times if required.
• Workgroup meetings have to be conducted during core business hours when all staff are present.
