If you're medically unable to be at work and need time to recuperate, here’s what you need to do:
In some cases, you may be contacted by an occupational health nurse or an early intervention and return-to-work specialist who can offer assistance with developing a rehabilitation and return-to-work plan that will best match your recovery needs. A doctor’s certificate may also be requested.
Those eligible for sick leave will receive a percentage of their salary with uninterrupted benefits. Learn more about pay and benefits while on sick leave >
Consider applying for Long Term Disability benefits if you’ve been on short term leave for 3 months and a return to work doesn’t seem likely before finishing 6 months of leave. This will prevent delays in getting paid.
