Assessment

Assessment is the process of evaluating a student’s knowledge, understanding and ability.

  • Classroom Assessment
Teachers assess student progress continuously and report outcomes to parents through report cards, parent-teacher interviews and other types of communication.
  • Provincial Exams
Provincial examinations in five subject areas are required for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12. See sample exams, check the exam schedule or get your exam results.
  • Foundation Skills Assessment
This annual assessment of B.C. students’ academic skills is not counted toward student grades, but plays a valuable role in helping improve student achievement.
  • National and International Assessments
B.C. students participate in national and international assessments to help determine how our education system is performing compared to others across Canada and the world.
