Friendship Centre Program

The Friendship Centre Program supports 25 friendship centres around the province through funding from the First Citizens Fund.

The Province of British Columbia partners with the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres to deliver the following programs:

• Student Bursary Program
  Provides financial assistance to eligible Indigenous students enrolled in post-secondary education programs.
• Elders Transportation Program
  Provides partial funding to Elders to offset travel costs related to the Annual Elders Gathering.
• Friendship Centre Program Directors
  Offsets Friendship Centre costs for the salary, benefits and related program costs of program directors who deliver a range of social, recreational and cultural programming to Indigenous people living in urban areas.
