How to Pay

You can pay your sponsorship debt:

Online Using eTaxBC

To pay online you must enrol for access to your account. You need to enrol for a separate eTaxBC account for your sponsorship debt, even if you already have an eTaxBC account for taxes you pay.

To enrol for access to eTaxBC:

  1. Visit the eTaxBC logon page
  2. Click on Individual / Business in the Enrol box, located on the right side of the screen
  3. Follow the instructions to complete

You’ll need to know the following information:

  • Your account type is "Non Tax Programs"
  • Your reference number
  • Your account number

You can find your reference number and your account number on the bottom part of your Statement of Account.

Once you have an account, you can logon to eTaxBC to pay.

Pre-authorized Debit

To have your payments automatically withdrawn from your bank account, complete and sign the Application for Pre-Authorized Debit (PDF) form.

Submit the completed form and an unstapled void cheque by either mail or fax.

If you send your form and cheque by fax, you don’t need to mail the original.

By Mail

You can make a payment in Canadian funds by cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance and send it to:

Remember to write your account number (e.g. CLM-XXXX-XXXX) on your payment so your account can be easily identified when your payment is processed.

Don’t send cash in the mail.

Bank or Financial Institution

Most banks and financial institutions offer bill payment services for their clients. Bill payment services can generally be accessed through your online banking account, an automated teller machine (ATM), telephone banking or in person with a teller.

To pay your sponsorship debt using a bill payment service you need to add us as a payee to your bank account. To add a new payee to your bank account you need to know our payee name and your account number.

Payee Name

Our payee name will be listed with your bank as BC – Stmt of Acct.

Some banks and financial institutions may use a variation of this payee name. If you can't find us, call your bank for assistance.

Account Number

Your account number is listed on your Statement of Account (e.g. CLM-XXXX-XXXX).

At a Government Office

You can pay your sponsorship debt at one of the following government offices:

  • Service BC Centre
    Payments by cash, debit, cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance are accepted. You must provide a copy of your Statement of Account with your payment.
     
  • 1802 Douglas Street in Victoria (drop box only)
    Payments by cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance are accepted.

Remember to write your account number (e.g. CLM-XXXX-XXXX) on your payment so your account can be easily identified when your payment is processed.

Online Using Your Credit Card

You can use your Visa or MasterCard to pay online. To make a payment you’ll need your account number (e.g. CLM-XXXX-XXXX) listed on your Statement of Account.
