How to Report & Pay Tobacco Tax

Whether you're a business, accountant or bookkeeper, you can report and pay tobacco tax:

Online Using eTaxBC

If you have an eTaxBC account, you can logon to eTaxBC to report and pay. You can enrol for access to eTaxBC if you don't have an eTaxBC account. The following tobacco tax returns are currently available online using eTaxBC:

By Mail or Courier

You can mail or courier your completed return(s), Notice of Assessment, Statement of Account or legal notice and your payment to us.

Payments are accepted by cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance, or using banking services. Do not send cash.

If you pay by cheque, bank draft or money order write your account number on your payment so your account can be easily identified when your payment is processed.

Note: We will not accept payments by international bank draft of less than $500 Canadian dollars. Bank drafts under $500 will be returned to you and you will need to make alternate payment arrangements.

At a Government Office

To report and pay in person at a government office, bring your payment and completed return(s), Notice of Assessment, Statement of Account or legal notice with you.

You can submit your return and payment at one of the following locations:

  • Service BC Centre
    Payments by cash, debit, cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance are accepted.
  • 1802 Douglas Street in Victoria (drop box only)
    Payments by cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance are accepted. Cash, debit and credit card payments aren't accepted.
  • Note: We will not accept payments by international bank draft of less than $500 Canadian dollars (i.e. the draft will be returned to you and you will need to make alternate payment arrangements).

Remember to write your account number on your payment so your account can be easily identified when your payment is processed.
