May 19, 2015 - Gaming Funds Used for Disaster Relief in Nepal

Organizations wishing to participate in fundraising for earthquake victims in Nepal may conduct licensed gaming events to assist with relief efforts. Funds raised from these events must be donated to the Canadian Red Cross Society - B.C. and Yukon.

In January 2005, the government made amendments to gaming policies, allowing in certain circumstances the use of net proceeds from licensed gaming events to assist with relief efforts for disasters and emergencies that have occurred outside of British Columbia. Organizations wishing to participate in such fundraising efforts must meet the specified criteria and obtain a licence from the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.
