Reporting Past Crimes

Last updated on December 12, 2017

It is never too late to report a crime. If you have seen, heard or been a victim of criminal activity, the important thing is to report what you know, even if it has been weeks, months or years since the crime took place. You may have critical information that can help police close an unsolved case, re-open an investigation or prevent future crime.

You can report a crime that happened a long time ago the same way that you would report a crime that happened recently.

To help you decide which way of reporting the crime is best for you, see How to Report a Crime.
