Policy & Design

The Ministry of Justice has adopted an alternative dispute resolution policy to help create a justice system that includes a range of dispute resolution options.

Additionally, the ministry created the Dispute Resolution Office (DRO) to foster dispute resolution in agencies, boards and commissions, the court system and government ministries.

The DRO works closely with specialist contractors to customize dispute resolution processes that work best for organizations and their clients. It also helps organizations make existing processes more efficient and effective.

The DRO wrote A Guide to Designing Public Sector Dispute Resolution Systems to help public sector organizations develop dispute resolution options. The guide is also relevant for organizations outside of government.
