Re: Fireplace - Combustion Air, Article 9.34.1.7.

With reference to your letter of February 15, 1988, regarding the application of Article 9.34.1.7. from the B.C. Building Code.

The Article in question uses the words "not already incorporating a means of obtaining combustion air from the outside". This was specifically intended to accommodate appliances containing such an air supply in their design. From the information submitted on a Tweed Steel System, the air supply provision has already been included. Article 9.34.1.7., and the .018 m2 duct area would not, therefore, be applicable in your situation.
