What is the Solution Explorer?
The Solution Explorer is a tool for helping landlords and tenants manage and resolve residential tenancy disputes in British Columbia. The Solution Explorer works for British Columbia residential tenancy disputes under the Residential Tenancy Act. For information on manufactured home park tenancies, contact the Residential Tenancy Branch.
What You Need to Know Before You Start
Review information about limitation periods before you start. It’s about how long you have to take action on your problem. It’s very important.
You might need to review documents relating to your tenancy problem while using the Solution Explorer. If you don't have the information on hand, you can start your exploration now and if you need more information, you can save it and return to it later.
Documents that may be helpful depend on the nature of your issue but may include:
- tenancy agreement
- notice of rent increase
- tenant request for repairs
- warning letters
- notice to end tenancy
- condition inspection reports
- tenant notice of forwarding address
- receipts or invoices
Even if you don't need this information now, it is important to keep copies of documents about your tenancy in a safe place. That way, if you ever need the information to support an application for dispute resolution , you will have it available.
