Michael W. Louie BSc(Pharm), PharmD

Michael earned his bachelor of science in Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia and his doctor of pharmacy from the University of Washington.
Currently, Michael is a full-time academic detailing pharmacist serving family practice physicians and health care professionals within Fraser Health's North Region. Previously, he worked as a clinical research associate, coordinating trial protocols among researchers. His areas of clinical pharmacy practice have included general medicine, intensive care, cardiology, renal, oncology, palliative care, psychiatry, and surgery units.
Academic Detailing Experience
Michael has been with the BC PAD service since its inception in 2008 and has completed Basic and Advanced Academic Detailing training. He has served over 200 physicians and health professionals assisting them with evidence informed prescribing. So far he has researched and detailed on the topics of HPV vaccine, anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation, antibiotics in community practice, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and inhaled medications, and osteoporosis.
From his many years practicing in pharmacy, Michael has come to conclude that academic detailing is the truest form of his professional calling. He feels fortunate to have come to this path in his career.
Michael likes to get his hands muddy in the garden or greasy tinkering with his convertible.
