Restriction Removals

The Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board has approved processes to remove medication, airway and intra-muscular injection restriction(s). Please follow the steps below for each type of restriction.

If you would like to have training recognized for removing a restriction from your licence that is not listed below, please contact getalicense@gov.bc.ca.

Medication Restrictions

To have your medication restriction(s) removed, follow these steps:

  1. Submit a research paper for each medication restriction by e-mail to getalicense@gov.bc.ca. Please follow the link detailing the paper requirements (PDF, 390KB).
  2. The title of your research paper should be as follows: “Research Paper for Training Gap Restriction Removal – Medication Name”.

Airway Restrictions

To have your airway restriction removed, follow these steps:

  1. Take an recognized airway course.
  2. Submit your training certificate with your full name and licence number clearly indicated to getalicense@gov.bc.ca.

Intra-muscular Injection Restriction

To have your intra-muscular injection restriction removed from your primary care paramedic licence, follow these steps:

  1. Take a recognized intra-muscular injection course
  2. Submit your training certificate with your full name and licence number clearly indicated to getalicense@gov.bc.ca.
