Last updated on April 27, 2016

Summary

Section 27.1 clarifies situations in which public bodies have not collected personal information. This clarification is important because public bodies take on certain responsibilities when they collect personal information. Where a public body has received personal information that does not relate to one of its programs or activities and the public body does nothing other than read, delete, destroy, return or transfer the information, the public body has not collected the information for the purposes of the Act.
