How do I acquire a device?

While each branch and/or ministry may have their own purchasing procedures, in general:

  • Determine the type of service required
    • cellular phone
    • smart phone
    • Internet data stick
  • Contact the telecommunications coordinator in the ministry
    • No telecommunications coordinator?  Is there someone who does the ordering for the:
      • ministry
      • division
      • branch
      • program area
        • or will the user do the ordering
  • Review the service and equipment options available on the Bell ordering portal
  • Gather the information required to complete the transaction
    • purchase document
    • purchase card
    • billing information/account to which the phone will be added
  • Prior to your first order submission via the Bell ordering portal, contact one of the Bell representatives listed below to obtain a secure ordering user ID and password
  • When ordering or changing service or equipment have a purchase document or pCard ready
  • Contact Bell with any questions or to place the order
  • Equipment and services can be ordered using any of the following methods:
  • The dealer may complete a Purchase Order Details Form and require a signature
    •   A copy of this form can be submitted to the appropriate finance or accounts payable department
  • The person ordering can pay using a pCard or request invoicing by the dealer
  • The equipment will be shipped to the user by courier

Each ministry, division and branch has a slightly different method for obtaining devices

  • Contact your telecom coordinator to order phones or devices
  • Contact your iStore preparer to connect your device to the B.C. Government network
  • Broader public sector organizations follow the procedure for your organization
