Children and Youth Under 19
Every eligible child gets health care coverage under their parents’ or guardians’ Medical Services Plan (MSP) account until they're 19 years old. Most importantly, in an emergency situation, no child will ever be denied essential medical care.
Children and youth under 19 do not need to renew enrolment in MSP and, if they don't have one already, are automatically issued their first Non-Photo BC Services Card when an adult on the account obtains their own BC Services Card. The child's Non-Photo BC Services Card is free, and will be sent in the mail.
Since February 2013, newborns and children new to the province are issued a Non-Photo BC Services Card once they're enrolled in MSP.
