Income Assistance During the Wildfires

A provincial state of emergency was declared on July 7, 2017 to ensure a co-ordinated response to the current wildfire situation. This is an urgent situation and public safety is the top priority.

As a result of the wildfires, some ministry offices are affected.

Services to Clients

  • All ministry services remain available
  • Clients can contact the ministry from anywhere in the province by calling the ministry at 1 866 866-0800 or online at My Self Serve
  • Wait times on our phones are low, and on average are under 10 minutes
  • August cheque issue is scheduled for July 26, 2017
  • We encourage all clients to sign up for direct deposit 
  • Evacuees on income or disability assistance who receive their cheque by mail can attend any Employment and Assistance Office to pick up their payment starting on July 26th
  • Clients who have evacuated to the major centres of Prince George and Kamloops can attend our offices to pick up cheques at:

  • All clients on income assistance can submit their monthly request for assistance or monthly report (SD81) by mail, online through My Self Serve, or at any ministry or Service BC office
  • Ministry staff are distributing the monthly reporting forms (SD81) and direct deposit forms (HR2648) to Emergency Reception Centres in the affected areas

The ministry offices affected are:

  • Williams Lake – office is closed (located in the same building as Service BC)
  • Ashcroft Service BC office – open and able to provide basic ministry services
  • Horton Ventures Inc offices and WorkBC Employment Services Centres in 100 Mile House and Williams Lake will be closed for services until further notice
