Message from the Premier and Federal Minister

Clean Air, Clean Water, Bright Sun, Good Soil image

Premier of British Columbia

Honourable Christy Clark

British Columbia’s food producers tell me one of the most rewarding parts of their jobs is sharing their products with families in different countries, and I couldn’t agree more. Food brings people and cultures together. By sharing our seafood, meat, fruit and vegetables, packaged foods and beverages with people in other countries, we are sharing the clean air, clean water, bright sun and good soil that our food is produced in, and making connections and building relationships across the globe. We’re sharing the best the world has to offer. In addition to the companies and products listed here, the B.C. government has trade representatives in 13 international offices to help you connect with British Columbian businesses, and learn more about the products and services our province provides. I encourage you to use this catalogue to enjoy and share the flavours of British Columbia, and join the millions of people in 140 countries around the world, who serve B.C. foods with confidence and pleasure.

Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

Honourable Lawrence MacAuley

The Government of Canada is proud to partner with the Province of British Columbia to create useful tools like the 2016 BC Agri-food and Seafood Export Ready Business Catalogue. What a tremendous showcase of the world-class, innovative and diverse products coming from B.C. farms and food processors! Last year, British Columbia agri-food and seafood exports grew again, reaching $3 billion. This comprehensive resource targeted to our international customers is sure to help the industry build on that performance. The Government of Canada is proud to join Premier Clark in supporting this great work under the Canada-B.C. Growing Forward 2 agreement. Our joint investments of $427 million over five years are helping B.C. agri-food and seafood exporters meet global consumers’ demands for safe, innovative and environmentally-friendly food and beverages. That’s good news for farmers and food processors; and it’s good news for economic growth, job creation and broad-based prosperity in British Columbia and right across Canada. The Government of Canada will continue to partner with British Columbia to help the industry capture exciting opportunities in the global marketplace.
