This dataset consists of GIS data in support of the LBIS fibre basket mapping project. The following four expanded silviculture opportunity feature classes were derived from 2010 RESULTS data (openings and forest cover polygons):
In addition to the standard results data fields, each layer has attribute fields detailing the average, minimum and maximum cycle class (hours) for each expanded silviculture opportunity polygon.
The extraction criteria for each of the above four layers are listed in the accompanying Excel files, which summarize the area of each silviculture opportunity by cycle time (hours to processing centre) for each of the seven fibre market areas.
A dissolved version of the Cycle time dataset is included in the base data geodatabase. The [CycleClass] attribute field contains the upper time (in hours) required to transport wood products and/or materials to/from the nearest processing centre.
A 1:20,000 scale TRIM map index feature class is included in the base data geodatabase. This layer contains attribute fields that summarize the area and polygon count of each expanded silviculture opportunity layer:
The data are stored in an ArcGIS geodatabase (v92) with a projection of NAD83 BC Albers. Also included in the zip file are layer files which can be used to display the silviculture data, cycle time data and TRIM Index as it was symbolized in the PDF maps. This layer file (*.lyr) will work as long as you keep it in the same folder as the geodatabase that holds the data, and maintain that geodatabase name.
