British Columbia Greenhouse Gas Inventory
In 2014, British Columbia’s greenhouse gas emissions were 62.7 million carbon dioxide equivalent tonnes (Mt CO2e), including 1.8 Mt CO2e in offsets from forest management projects. Greenhouse gas emissions are down 5.5% from 66.0 Mt CO2e in 2007, our baseline year.
British Columbia’s greenhouse gas inventory is the province’s assessment of GHG sources and sinks in British Columbia. The inventory tables cover all greenhouse gas emissions included in the province’s greenhouse gas targets. The tables also include emissions or removals from land use change and forest management that are not included in the province’s greenhouse gas targets, but are reported for information.
The Climate Action Secretariat prepares British Columbia’s greenhouse gas inventory and publishes the inventory tables each year, based on a two year delay due to the time required to assemble the inventory. The 2014 provincial inventory (XLS) was published in 2016.
