Special Wine Store

Limited number available by auction only
Couple with shopping cart full of groceries browsing wine

The special wine store licence allows the sale of 100% BC wine in a designated area on grocery store shelves. This includes wine, cider, mead, and sake made from 100% BC agricultural inputs.  A series of auctions will be held to determine eligibility to apply for the special wine store licence.  There have been twelve auctions to date with possibly six more in the future.

Eligibility to participate in the auctions is restricted to grocery stores with, or will have by the time of licensing, a primary focus on selling a general line of foods and non-liquor beverages, an area of at least 10,000 square feet and not already be the site of an existing or proposed licensee retail store, wine store or BC Liquor Store.

Convenience stores and multipurpose stores are not eligible for a special wine store licence.
