Student full-time equivalents (FTEs) are used to measure enrolment at public post-secondary institutions:

  • A student taking a full-time course load counts as one FTE
  • A student taking a part-time course load counts as less than one FTE

Student FTE data is collected as part of a regular reporting cycle.

FTE targets are set for each post-secondary institution in their annual budget letter – the targets represent an expected volume of service delivery.

Enrolment reports from public post-secondary institutions are used to meet accountability framework measures that correspond to FTEs.
