Using or Replacing a Scholarship
Winners will receive a voucher by mail in the fall of their high school graduation year. Vouchers can be redeemed when you are registered and attending a designated post-secondary institution (i.e. approved for Canada Student Loans by B.C.) or an authorized trades training provider in B.C. and have paid tuition equal to or greater than the amount of the voucher.
Most winners have five years from their date of graduation from high school to redeem their vouchers.
Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship winners have seven years to redeem their vouchers. When redeeming, they must provide a letter from their BC Faculty of Education confirming their enrolment in the K-12 teacher education program.
The expiry dates are stated on the vouchers.
To redeem your voucher:
- Have an authorized institution representative stamp and sign your voucher as confirmation of registration, attendance, and payment of tuition fees. Payment of tuition must be equal to or greater than the amount of the voucher.
- Provide your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and email address on the voucher in the space provided and ensure your mailing address is correct (or if incorrect, provide a current address).
- Mail the original voucher to the Ministry of Education at:
Provincial Scholarships Program
Ministry of Education
PO Box 9886 STN PROV GOVT
Victoria BC V8W 9T6
You will receive your cheque by mail in approximately six to eight weeks.
To request a replacement for your lost scholarship voucher, complete the replacement request form and send it to the Ministry of Education with $25.00 payment.
A replacement voucher will be mailed to you within six to eight weeks.
The Passport to Education program is now phased out. If you have already received Passport to Education stamps, you may redeem them toward tuition at your designated post-secondary institution until the expiry date stated on the stamps.
