Procurement

The BC Education Marketplace (BCEM) has been established to achieve cost and administrative savings for the K-12 sector through collaborative procurement. BCEM services include the establishment of shared contracts for select goods and services as well as serving as a resource for school districts regarding best practices in the area of procurement.

The BCEM engages with other purchasing organizations serving the sector (e.g. ERAC, EDCO, ASDT, Province of BC – Procurement Services Branch) to share ideas, coordinate initiatives and streamline services to the sector. All of these organizations seek to deliver savings to school districts and collaborate to achieve that goal as efficiently as possible.

The BCEM is governed by a Procurement Steering Committee with representation from each BC Association of School Business Officials' zones. The Steering Committee provides oversight for both strategic direction and operations, ensuring that BCEM is accountable and provides value to the sector. Surrey School District is hosting BCEM while a permanent K-12 procurement solution is being established.
