Issue 16-168: Bankruptcies

The number of bankruptcies registered by B.C. businesses (-5.3%) and consumers (-20.1%) dropped in June of 2016 from the same period a year prior. Conversely, the number of Canadian bankruptcies filed was up, as a 5.3% decrease in business bankruptcies was offset by a 0.6% climb among consumer filings. Nearly half of business bankruptcies reported was in the construction, retail trade and accommodation and food services sectors.
