Short-term, temporary positions and auxiliary referrals for the following job classifications:

  • Stockworker 6
  • Stockworker 9

Use this supply arrangement

Step 1: Check if your organization is authorized. Organizations that may use this supply arrangement are:

  • B.C. government ministries
  • B.C. government Agencies, Boards and Commissions

Step 2: Potential users should read and understand the terms and conditions (PDF, 191.5KB) prior to contacting a supplier as specific terms and conditions under the BCGEU Collective Agreement apply to the use of temporary help services.

Step 3: Review pricing and contact the supplier. When you contact them, provide this information:

  • Organization you work for
  • The supplier's CSA number
  • Classification of worker you are looking for
  • Anticipated start and end dates of the assignment
  • Name of the manager for the temporary worker

Step 4: Complete your purchase. Work with the supplier to complete the purchase documentation required by your organization. Ministries may use the purchase document template (PDF, 888KB).

Note: A BC-Government criminal record checking (CRC) is required for any auxiliary referral hired under 7 months. For a limited term employee who works less than 31 calendar days, suppliers are responsible for conducting the CRC. Buyer or hiring manager shall contact HR for which level of security screening requirements are to be met prior to temporary help workers are onboarded. 


 

 


Information about this supply arrangement

  • This supply arrangement expires March 31, 2025 unless withdrawn in accordance with section 3.1 (F) or Section 9, or renewed by the Province for up to one additional two-year period.  
  • Only services outlined on the price lists are available; other services need to be obtained in accordance with CPPM 6 - Procurement Policy
  • This supply arrangement does not facilitate the hiring of a candidate into a permanent position
    • Ministries are required to conduct an appropriate meritorious process to fill any permanent position
  • Temporary positions may include bargaining unit or excluded positions
    • Bargaining unit positions must not exceed 30 calendar days.
    • This limitation does not apply to excluded positions
  • For bargaining unit positions:
    • No individual will be permitted to work on a subsequent appointment without the elapse of a period of 30 days since the expiry of that individual's most recent appointment of less than 30 days
    • A ministry may not use an individual from a temporary help agency in succession to perform the same duties for a period in excess of 30 days within a period of 90 days
  • A retained hire fee will be paid to the supplier if the manager hires the worker as an auxiliary employee
  • For auxiliary referral services, the hire rate will be paid upon successful hire of an auxiliary referral candidate and is paid per hire
  • Overtime is regulated by provincial government legislation and not provincial government collective agreements 
    • For the purpose of calculating overtime, the week begins on Sunday
  • Overtime in the Province of British Columbia means either:
    • Overtime rate #1: Time worked in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours in any week
    • Overtime rate #2:  Time worked in excess of 11 hours in any day

Pricing is dependent on the job classification and differs for each supplier. Pricing lists show the total breakdown of all costs. Each supplier has different hourly rates and a separate fee for retained hires.
